Ubiq Exotic Barbecue is targeted towards people who want to bring a little bit more flavor into their barbecue. Ubiq features sauces from around the world. This project introduces Ubiq’s Asian line containing flavors from Chinese, Taiwanese, and Japanese cultures.

My goal while designing Ubiq Exotic Barbecue was to veer away from mainstream barbecue design and focus on specific flavors as well as the cultural aspect through my use of illustration.

BRANDING

Ubiq’s name comes from the word, ubiquitous,  which means “all around” or “worldwide.” It was a name that fit the idea of a worldwide cultural barbecue line. The logo was designed with the name’s concept and barbecue in mind. The logo’s circular shape represents ubiquitous while the design within the circle depicts a grill grate.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Each sauce and spice has an illustration on the front. The circular part of each illustration depicts the culture, while the inside part depicts the ingredients. You will notice that for the sauces and spices the culture repeats itself, but not the ingredients.

To create the illustrations, I sketched out each label, brought them into Adobe Illustrator and created vectors. I then used Adobe Photoshop to add details and create shadows.
