DESIGN FOR GOOD
Let us talk about designing for good but first you need to know that today was the Barkley Annual Meeting. This is a crazy day because every employee and partner company's employees is at one location at the same time. However, what does this have to do with designing for good?
Today Barkley Leadership explained how in the past year or so, Barkley is striving to design for good and add good to the world. They touched on how they have been doing this and why they are doing it as a company. The best part is they brought in an amazing speaker, Mick Ebeling.
Mick was a producer for a KC company called MK12. Nowadays, he is doing something else: working to make the impossible possible with his own company, Not Impossible Labs. He has changed the lives of many people. I am not going into details but his speech and his stories are truly inspiring. If everyone did what this man did the world would be a beautiful place. He went out of his way to gain knowledge, gather people, and spend sleepless nights just trying to help what started out as one person. He is now helping multiple people and it is wonderful. You should definitely check out the link to see what he has done. He also has a book about his stories which is pretty awesome too.
So on another note what is the internship project? Well I won't be able to tell you anything beyond this but the interns have been split into two groups, both tasked with the same type of assignment. One group is working with Applebees, and the other for Spirit Airlines. I am on the Spirit Airlines group and the goal is to create a campaign that targets millennials and will convince them to fly on Spirit Airlines. It is a pretty interesting assignment and I am really excited about it.
In regards to the internship in general, I love it. Blacktop is a beautiful company. They care about their clients and everyone works extremely hard. If you haven't seen their work it is definitely something worth looking into.
